About
General
I create unique, and sometimes unusual, jewelry. My goal is to craft pieces that let you express yourself and that can be worn everyday (not just on special occasions). Many pieces also make thoughtful gifts. A lot of my inspiration comes from nature and natural objects, hence the "earthen" in the my company's name. The "gypsy" part comes from moving around a bit and trying to capture a sense of free-spiritedness that inspires many of my designs.
Everything is handcrafted (wirework, chainmaille, resin) except for the poured metal pieces (many charms and rings), which I pick up here and there and then combine into a new peice of jewelry. I offer free modifications (pierced earrings to clip-ons, necklace extensions, etc.), free repairs for any of my pieces, and custom work upon request.
Collections
I have three major jewelry collections, or themes, that I spend much of my time creating for: Scandinavia Inspired, Scientific Refuse, and Wonderfully Wired.
Scandinavia Inspired Collection - I started making pieces for this collection some years ago for the annual end of the year Sons of Norway Christmas Festival (Washington Lodge). I am half-Norwegian and attending and volunteering at this event is was tradition that my mom and I shared. In 2023, I will be bringing this collection to the Michigan Nordic Fire Festival.
Scientific Refuse Collection - This collection incorporates my love of insects and arthropods. It may not be in everyone's taste, but if you like the weird, unusual, and oddly beautiful this collection may be for you. All insects used for this collection are recycled from completed scientific projects, roadkill, pests that had to be removed, or in a rare case sustainably farmed. As they are recycled and not killed for the purpose of jewelry, many of the insects are slightly imperfect with a missing leg or tiny bit out of their wing.
Wonderfully Wired Collection - Many of these pieces are the styles I've been making the longest - some even helped pay my bills (and crafting habit!) through grad school when I first started this company. They are great fun to make and feature different wire colors, patterns, and stones. The bird nest style in this collection are some of the most popular of my pieces and remind me of home and family.
About Me
Currently I live in Michigan with my dog and boyfriend. This company is in addition to my unrelated fulltime job. I would love to make jewelry full time, but currently it wouldn't pay the bills... Since I run this company in my limited free time, most of the jewelry you see was made in my living room or at the kitchen table. The phone number listed on the contact page is my cell phone (the only phone I have), so if you call me please make sure to leave a message. I often get a lot of spam calls so I usually don't answer unknown numbers. I will call you back if you leave a message though :) For a much quicker response - email or text me instead!
Have a jewelry design in mind that's availble on the website? Send me an e-mail (EarthenGypsyDesigns@gmail.com) or a message through the Custom Orders/Contact me page and I'll make it just for you.
